This beautifully written book by Emma Grey will keep you turning pages as you ride a roller coaster of emotions from the main character. At times it's easy to imagine how she is feeling but at other times in the story you wonder how she is managing all of the stress that she's under as she tries to piece together her past memories.
Evie Hudson wakes up in a strange place. She's only 16 so she wonders if she had too much fun at a party. Then she realizes that she's in a hospital and the two people sitting by her bed are total strangers. At first, she doesn't believe it when they tell her that they are her husband's parents and that she and her husband had been in a car accident and he had been killed. What? Why would she have a husband at 16 and where are her parents and her best friend? She's totally shocked when the doctor tells her that she is actually 29 years old! Where have the last 13 years gone? The doctor explains that she has amnesia and that her memories might or might not come back. Her body is different, the pictures on her phone are wrong and she has no contacts in her phone for her parents or best friend. It all comes to a head at Oliver's funeral when she runs from the church to an Uber and asks the driver for help. The car isn't really an Uber but is being driven by Drew, a photographer who is interested in her story. Evie doesn't care who he is, she just wants to find her parents and try to figure out what's happened to her in the last 13 years. He agrees to rescue her but does he have ulterior motives? It turns out that he is keeping important secrets from Evie knowing that she will be upset when/if she gets her memory back. But for him, it's worth the chance.
That's about all I can tell you about the story without taking the chance of giving away something important and trust me - you are better off going into this story with no idea of how it unfolds. I will tell you that it's a real page-turner and that the main characters are well-written and believable. I will also tell you that you need to add this to your TBR because it's a story that you don't want to miss.
