Samantha DeMartino fell into the life expected of her: she went to the best NYC schools, majored in economics, got a degree in law to work at her parents' firm, and became engaged to the accountant that was working in her mother's half of the family firm. It all fell apart when he called off the wedding two weeks before the date, so Sam went ahead to the Vermont ski trip on her own to figure out what she wanted in life. Jed Armstrong worked on the family farm and as a part-time ski instructor for Deerbourne Inn, and their attraction is instant. But with Sam returning to New York in a week, how can they make it work?

April 2019; The Wild Rose Press, Inc ebook (114 pages); romance |
Being a romance novel, we know that there will eventually be a compromise that they can live with and that it will be able to work out for Sam. It's practically telegraphed two-thirds of the way through the novel, so it doesn't quite come out of nowhere as some happily ever after endings can seem. In addition to being a fun and quick read, there are recipes in the back for two of the dishes that Sam mentioned over the course of the novel. They definitely sounded tasty enough that I want to try them out!

Born and raised in New York City, M.K. French started writing stories when very young, dreaming of different worlds and places to visit. She always had an interest in folklore, fairy tales, and the macabre, which has definitely influenced her work.
