Jenny Beckett woke up in her little log cabin to the sounds of waves lapping on the shore of Heron Lake and a cool fall breeze wafting in. Was there anything more delightful than sleeping with an open window on a cool night? Smiling, she yawned, pushed her two eighty-pound dogs off her bed, where officially they weren't allowed to sleep, and slipped on a flannel robe. The temperature was finally dropping, heaven after the steam bath of a summer they'd had. Buddy and Bear pranced, capered, and reared up on their hind legs, play fighting. The drop in temperature always made the dogs friskier. As she scooped chow into bowls, Jenny glanced at the Just a Buck store calendar she kept on her fridge. It was October 15th. Hard to believe how much her life had changed in just one year. (pg 1)

Jenny is in her early 40s. She owns a small campground and is struggling with her finances and knows that she needs to keep her cabins rented over the Christmas holiday. She really isn't in a holiday mood but knows that she needs to come up with some great holiday plans to keep her cabins rented. She's also very unsettled about making plans for her wedding to Luke. So she gets together with her mom and her best friend to make plans for Christmas - she wants a Santa Claus, a horse-drawn sleigh and Christmas carols but how is she going to make it all happen in such a short period of time?
I highly recommend this series - it's a fun series with well-written characters that you'll come to love. It also has a main character over 40 which is something you don't see often enough. The series is full of fun and adventure, problems and solutions, love and friendship and happily ever after endings for everyone. It's a perfect series to read during the busy lives we all have during the Christmas season. I'm looking forward to book 4 due to be published in June 2020, because I'm not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet.
NOTE: This is the third book in the Lakeside Resort series and you really need to read them in order to get the maximum enjoyment from each one.
