Aunt Dimity and the Enchanted Cottage by Nancy Atherton ~ a Review

by Donna Huber

About five years ago I read Aunt Dimity's Christmas which I had picked up at a charity book sale. All I really remember about that book was that there was a spirit that gave advice. Even though I haven't read any other books in the Aunt Dimity mystery series, I decided to pick up the latest book in the series Aunt Dimity and the Enchanted Cottage. It's book 25 in the series but I don't need to read the previous books.

The Sweet Shop of Second Chances by Hannah M. Lynn ~ a Review

by Susan Roberts

This first book in the Holly Berry Sweet Shop series was a fun easy read.  I enjoyed the characters and the plot is convincing that you can go home again but not without complications.  Another bonus - there's lots of chocolate.  The book is set in a sweet shop in a small city in the Cotswolds so I wasn't familiar with all of the candy that was mentioned but I googled most of it and I'm ready for a trip to England to try some of them out (I wish!)

2 Fantastic Fairy Tale Retellings

by MK French

Fairy tales have been told and retold since the beginning of story-telling. It is fun to see old favorites getting a fresh look and these two new re-tellings are fantastic.

Trailed: One Woman's Quest to Solve the Shenandoah Murders by Kathryn Miles ~ a Review

by Susan Roberts

"I have also come to believe that telling other people's stories is one of the most important ways to build empathy and connection in a world that can often feel diverse and factioned. ..If I can write those stories in a way that makes readers care, then I feel like I have done a job worth doing." Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey ~ A Review

by Elisabeth Scherer

In the game of Monopoly any time you make a trip around the board past the square that says Go, you get paid $200. Greenlights is a concept kind of like this idea. I listened to the audiobook of this title after seeing so much about it online. I don’t know about you, but I am becoming more and more interested in biographical and autobiographical writing. I like getting to peek inside someone else’s world.  It’s a reminder that we are all individuals, and we all have stories to tell that are uniquely ours and ours alone.

The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews ~ a Review

by Donna Huber

The wait for Mary Kay Andrews's new beach read is over! I'm a relatively new fan of Andrews but I wouldn't miss her new book for anything. And this year's is a great read.

We'll Always Have Venice by Leonie Mack ~ a Review

by Susan Roberts

When I first started this book, I thought it would be a sappy romance that takes place in Venice.  I'm glad that the scenery kept me reading the book as it ended up being more than a romance.  It's a story of love and rejection, sisters and mothers along with wonderful descriptions of the sights and people of Venice.
