His wife apparently committed suicide, but other memories indicate she was likely murdered. In trying to avenge her murder, he discovers a lot about who he used to be, and not all of it is savory.

All the Lights Above Us by M. B. Henry ~ a Review

I'm a big reader of WWII fiction and I love finding unique perspectives on the era. All the Lights Above had a great premise. I've read other stories that include D-Day but it is usually from the perspective of military people - either the allies landing at Normandy or the French Resistance in France eagerly awaiting the invasion. This book told the story from the perspective of 5 women in different places and roles.

2 Books of Historical Fiction to Read on Vacation

If you are a big historical fiction reader then you know that there are often more books coming out each month than we can get read. Most of the time they are not the quick read of a romance novel, though the rich characters and historical information they impart are definitely worth the tradeoff. Summer vacation can be a great time to catch up on some of the titles you might have missed. Today, I have two that came on in May. The second one, in particular, would be great to read if you are doing a staycation as the descriptions of the Caribbean island setting will have you mentally at the beach.

Evie must go through an otherworld filled with witches, ghosts, and a memory-thief, pursued by a dead man whose only goal is to add Evie to his collection of lost souls.

Tom Clancy Zero Hour by Don Bentley ~ a Review

After I graduated from college, I found myself for the first time as an adult with enough time to read for pleasure. Yet, I had no idea what I liked to read. What I had last read for pleasure in high school no longer interested me. My mom had a shelf full of Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels. I enjoyed the movies that had been made from the books. I picked up my first novel Cardinal in the Kremlin, and I was hooked. Even though Clancy has died, there are a few authors that have continued the series. And I'm still enjoying the adventures in black op espionage.
