Rose Maxwell stepped down from her role as Prima and now will focus on herself. When she's sentenced to community service, it's at the animal sanctuary that half-demon veterinarian Damian Adams runs. They had a one-night stand, and now that attraction grows more intense. Working with demons comes easily to Rose, pushing Damian back into the world of demons he left behind. He doesn't approve of her becoming a Hunter, but telling her no all but assures she'll do it anyway. He cares far too much about Rose, but can't let that happen; cursed by his ex, if he falls in love, he'll lose his humanity as well as his heart.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book of the Supernatural Singles series, following Not The Witch You Wed (review here) The eldest Maxwell triplet was paired off in that book, which is referenced here. The text explains all you need to know, and this story is all about Rose. She and Damian are attracted to each other but have their fears of a relationship: Rose never had fulfilling relationships in the past, and Damian had an ex that cursed him with a Soul Hex as a teen. He thinks it's essentially cursing him to a life alone if he wants to retain his humanity, and that he shouldn't have more than one night stands. Rose is trying to figure out what to do with herself now that every waking moment isn't tied up with being the Prima. Hunting is easy, especially when the two work together. It's almost too seamless until the inevitable stumbling block.
Rose has a way with animals and most people, which she doesn't think much of. I'm impressed even if she isn't, and I enjoyed reading about her time on the refuge. The relationship between Damian and Rose is such fun to read, and the book is one I thoroughly enjoyed.
