Do you have a last road trip planned before summer ends? Or are you already planning your fall drives through the mountains? For readers, spending hours driving can cut into our daily reading time. But you don't have to miss out on a great story on your way to and from a great trip. Audiobooks are awesome for road trips. I find cozy mysteries are the easiest stories to listen to while driving so today I'm recommending a few series for your listening pleasure. I ordered them by length so if you have a short trip consider the first few series and the last few for longer trips.

A Camper & Criminals Cozy Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes
I've just recently started this series. I've listened to the first three books and it is a cute series. It is set in an RV campground so if you have a camping trip planned this might be a good choice. The books are kind of short - the audiobooks are about 4.5 - 5 hours long. There are 37 books in the series, and all but the latest novel is available as an audiobook.

Agatha Raisin series by M.C. Beaton
I discovered this series a few years ago and since then I've been bouncing between the newest release and the backlist. The audiobooks range in length from about 4.5 hours to 7 hours. It definitely can be read out of order. I've read 11 of the 34 books available - most as audiobooks. M.C. Beaton died in 2019 and her son has taken over writing the series. He's doing a great job as I've really enjoyed the later books. If you are looking for an older protagonist that is struggling with aging and gets involved in some wacky situations, then this is the series for you. I just finished Agatha Raisin and the Terrible Tourist at it would make a great vacation read as Agatha travels to Cyprus on a little vacation of her own.

Library Lover's Mystery series by Jenn McKinlay
I love books about books and this is a great series about a librarian in a coastal town in Connecticut. Usually several books are mentioned but there is usually one that the book club is focused on and a craft is paired with it. So if you are trip has a lot of downtime it might be a great opportunity to make something (As I did with filigree on my summer vacation). I haven't had a chance to read many of the backlist titles as my digital library doesn't offer many of the audiobooks nor does my library have the CDs so I have to get the CDs through inter-library loan. But I haven't had any trouble jumping into the middle of the series. There are 15 books in the series and the audiobooks are 6 - 7 hours in length.

Hannah Swenson series by Joanne Fluke
This is another series that I discovered after there were a lot of titles published. If you are a foodie then you will enjoy this series as Hannah owns a cookie shop and there are a lot of recipes provided. I've made a few of the recipes and they've all been good. So you might want to schedule a grocery stop as part of your road trip to pick up ingredients because you're going to want to sample some of her cookies. I've read this one very much out of order and it has only been recently that I've started to read them in order as I'm closing the gap between the older titles and the newer ones I've read. Of the 29 books in the series available, I only have about 7 left to read. I've listened to most of the series. They are some of longer cozy mystery audiobooks that I listen to with most of them being between 9 and 10 hours, though there are a few short stories available as well.

Sarah Booth Delaney Mysteries by Carolyn Haines
Whereas I've read quite a few books in the other series on this list, I've only read about 3 books. I listened to a book in the middle of the series back in 2020 but it was a little too much like souther fiction for me. Plus there's some paranormal activity as Sarah Booth Delaney sees ghosts (not all ghosts just a few specific ones who I think are related to her). But I've picked up a couple of the new releases and have enjoyed them so I think the series is growing on me. There are 28 books in the series and they're 10 - 11 hours in length.
