"A Heart in Disguise" by Rachel Scott McDaniel
Clara is a seamstress who is working with the US "Camouflage Corps" who are making camouflage suits for snipers to wear during World War I. She hears what she thinks is a plan for a bombing but wasn't sure when or where and even though she goes to the police - no one believes her. She gets help from a childhood friend just returned from the war due to his injuries. As sparks fly between them, they work together to stop the threat to the United States.
"A Letter to Eli" by Allison Pittman
Bette and Alice are lifelong friends who have moved to New York City for a new life during World War II. Alice's boyfriend is overseas in the midst of the fighting and she is anxiously awaiting his return so that they can get married. Bette broke up with her boyfriend before he left to go to war but a mysterious letter puts them back in touch. He is home and badly wounded and when she goes to visit him, she realizes that she still loves him. Can they re-kindle the love they had despite his injuries?
"A Daffodil in the Dress" by Susie Finkbeiner
Kate's husband died in the early days of Vietnam and to help make ends meet, she is working at Finch's Bookstore. She and Ike Finch have worked together for several years and are the best of friends. When she realizes how he treats her and her daughter, their friendship begins to turn to romantic feelings. She loved her husband and isn't sure if it's wise to fall in love again.
Each of the authors did an excellent job with their novellas. I am familiar with Susie Finkbeiner's work but the other two authors are new to me and I always enjoy finding new authors. Their premise for the book was very interesting -- each wrote about a different war and a wedding dress that connected all three stories. These stories were Christian romance at its best. They all showed that love will always win even when the world is in the turmoil of war.
