Meddling with Mistletoe by Liz Johnson ~ a Review

by Susan Roberts

Meddling with Mistletoe
is a cute Christian Christmas romance.  It has all of the pieces that make it a good romance - the main female character is a failure in her own eyes with plans to go to culinary school if she can just find the money, and the main male character is a serious career person who has been hurt by a girlfriend in the past and isn't interested in romance.  Add in a meddling aunt, a cute little girl, and a Christmas pageant and you can't go wrong.

Whitney wants to go to culinary school in the spring but she has to make the money to register.  She is baking pies to sell at the local outdoor market when her oven breaks.  She asks a friend if she can use her ovens for the next several weeks.  Her friend operates an inn but they don't usually have guests in the winter.  She agrees but asks Whitney to watch her three children and cook breakfast for the guests.  She made an exception and allowed two guests to stay there as a favor to her friend Aretha.  Since Aretha has decided to sell her antiques store, she has invited her nephew Daniel to help with the sale.  The other guest is Ruby who works for the company that has made an offer on the store.  Both Daniel and Ruby are very hard workers and Aretha decides that they will make a fantastic couple.  So she starts devising situations that will throw them together and, she hopes, fall in love.  She asks Whitney for her help and she reluctantly agrees.  The more Whitney gets to know Daniel and Ruby, the more she realizes that they would not be happy together and in reality, she is beginning to have feelings for Daniel.  Will Whitney and Daniel get their happily  ever after or will Aretha's plan to pair Daniel with Ruby work out?

This is the perfect holiday romance.  There is frigid weather, snow, hot warm chocolate and pies that sound delicious.  There's also kids being part of the church Christmas pageant as they eagerly wait for Christmas. If you enjoy a book with great characters, snow and Christmas joy, you absolutely don't want to miss this book!
